By installing or using Dead Man's Hand (the "game") you agree to these terms. Minors should use the game only after a parent or guardian has read and agreed to them. This English version is a translation; if it differs from the Traditional Chinese version (section A), the Traditional Chinese version prevails.
- Licence. Downloading or buying the game gives you a limited, personal, non-commercial, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use it on your own devices. You do not acquire ownership of the game. Install limits and family-sharing rules are those of the store you got the game from.
- Trial and full version. The game comes as two installers. The free "trial" contains chapters 1–3 only; it can join trial or full-version players at the same table over the local network, using only the characters and techniques from chapters 1–3. The "full version" is bought and downloaded from a store (itch.io; later possibly Steam and Google Play) and contains chapters 4–16 and the full character and ending content, with all sixteen techniques and "Online rooms" in multiplayer; characters, techniques, stars, achievements and endings are still earned through play. Both use the same saves, so the full version continues from your trial progress. The game itself has no purchase, unlock or restore-purchase function and no online purchase verification, and no subscriptions, ads or paid retries. Single-player needs no licence key. Multiplayer in the full version uses an offline licence certificate (licence key): when you connect, your device uses the key to make a one-time proof on the device itself, which the devices at your table (or, in an online room, that service's game server) verify offline; the key and its private key are never sent (the public key is sent as part of the public certificate), and nothing is sent to us. The key is your proof of purchase; keep it safe and do not share it. A purchase from one store covers only the version that store provides and does not convert into a purchase on another store.
- Prohibited. Renting, reselling or distributing the game files (including the full-version installer); obtaining full-version content in the trial by cracking or modifying the game; sharing or reselling licence keys, or circumventing licence verification by cracking; using the game for gambling or any unlawful activity; harassing others through multiplayer or using offensive or infringing nicknames or room names. To the extent permitted by mandatory law where you live, do not reverse engineer the game.
- Multiplayer. Local-network play runs between players' devices (the trial can use it too, with only the characters and techniques from chapters 1–3); "Online rooms" (full version only) connects only to a service whose address you enter yourself. We do not currently operate any online room service, do not monitor connections between players, and give no guarantee about their availability, security or other players' behaviour. Any online room service you choose is the responsibility of whoever runs it.
- Saves. Saves are stored on your device; there is no cloud save. Use the in-game save backup to back up. We cannot restore saves lost through device failure, data deletion or uninstalling.
- Rights. The game's art, text, translation and music were made with generative AI and selected and assembled by the developer (see in-game credits); they are used under the terms of the generation tools concerned. We claim no rights beyond those protected by law. Third-party software and material (engine, fonts, sound effects, code plug-in) is used under its own licence; see "Credits & licenses" in the game.
- Updates. We may update the game for fixes, balance or compatibility; fixes and balance updates for purchased content are free. We do not promise unannounced content (e.g. new online modes, add-ons or voice acting).
- Refunds. Refunds follow the refund policy of the store you bought from; see "Refunds and support" below. After a refund, the full version you already downloaded remains playable in single-player; the licence key from that purchase may be added to a deactivation list in a later update, after which it can no longer be used for multiplayer. These terms do not limit your rights under Taiwan's Consumer Protection Act or other mandatory law.
- Liability. The game is provided "as is". To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, and our total liability is limited to the amount you actually paid for the game. This does not limit your statutory consumer rights, nor our liability for intent or gross negligence.
- Rating. Under Taiwan's Game Software Rating Management Regulations the game is rated Parental Guidance 15 (輔導十五歲級) and may not be used by anyone under 15; the content descriptors are those registered in Taiwan's game rating database. Take breaks and avoid excessive play; do not imitate what happens in the game. The game is centred on a card game; do not use it for gambling or any unlawful activity.
- Privacy. See our privacy policy: https://liyonglobal.com/deadmanshand/privacy .
- Termination. We may end your licence if you breach these terms; you may uninstall at any time.
- Changes. When these terms change we will update this page and the "Last updated" date; changes do not affect purchases completed before them.
- Governing law and venue. These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of China (Taiwan). The Taiwan Taoyuan District Court is the court of first instance, without prejudice to any venue consumers are entitled to by law.
- Store terms. If you got the game from itch.io, Steam, Google Play or another store, that store's terms also apply; for payment and refunds, the store's terms prevail.
- Language. These terms exist in Chinese and English; if they differ, the Chinese version prevails.
